From the Archives

Hey there, Unlimited Random readers! I, Stella, have hijacked my dear friend Joy's blog to bring you some Randomness from the archives.

As you know from the previous post, Joy's a little busy right now, so I thought I'd help a little by posting for her.

And now, I present: From the Archives
"Did he just say something about a leprechaun?"
"No... he said 'eggroll'"

I guess you had to be there...

It is unacceptable to read Tolkien in anything but a British accent.

To solve a problem, sometimes all it takes is just to smack your head on the keyboard. Though, I would not advise that method...

Side affects include: headache, nausea, indigestion, upset stomach, bloody nose, black eyes, and in rare occasions, insanity.

Thanks for joining me for From the Archives.

All moved and... well, not quite.

Hello! So I am mostly where I am supposed to be right now. The problem at hand now is that we are renovating the house I'm going to be living in. Renovating is a lot of work. On top of all that, school for me will be starting in the upcoming week.
"Yes, yes, this is all well and good, but what about the book?" Well, right now I'm looking at the books. As I have said before, I will tell everyone when I have chosen a book. Thank you all for waiting and reading all my completely random posts that are not as scheduled as I had hoped! :)
Well, things need to be done today, so that's all for now. Ciao!

Traveling for the time being

Hello all.
Well, as I have finished Sarah's Garden, I should be getting a new book from my friend Book Sneeze. The fact is that I may not get another book for a week or two. You see, I am moving my place of residence, and I have refrained from getting a new book because I don't want it to go to the wrong address. When I decide to get a book I will tell you.
In the meantime, I will be writing. I have many stories that I have started and intend to finish. One of which is a short story that I have been rewriting lately. I will keep anyone who's interested updated with weekly (or semi weekly depending) posts.
Thank you for reading all my random posts because, you know, this is Unlimited Random.

Sarah's Garden

Sarah's Garden
by Kelly Long

Sarah King lives in an Amish community in Pine Creek, Pennsylvania. Here she lives among her Mamm, her father, and her three unmarried older brothers. The story begins at the table on the King Farm where Sarah's family has gathered for the evening meal. At grace, her father brings good news that Chelsea, her older sister, is with child! Everyone is excited, and Sarah is asked to make a quilt for the child and also run the family's roadside stand in Chelsea's place. Shy Sarah reluctantly agrees.
Around the time that Sarah begins to work at the stand, a new neighbor moves into the Fisher farm across the way from the Kings. He is an Englischer, and also a veterinarian. Grant Williams hopes that he will be accepted into this Amish community because all his life he has felt the urge to serve the Amish people just as his father had.
On her first day at the roadside stand, Sarah met Grant. After that, they met frequently. As their friendship grew, Grant realizes that he loves Sarah, but his love will never work because he is an Englischer and Sarah is Amish. At Christmas time, Sarah realizes that she loves Grant as well and goes to tell him, but he stops her because their love will cause much grief. Shortly after this, Grant leaves without a trace, even his house-keepers don't know where he has gone, and Sarah finds herself heartsick.
During this time of heartsickness, Sarah finds creativity in quilt making and painting. She also helps Mathew Fisher, who had been abused and hurt as a child, to find a way to make a new life for himself.
Sarah turns to Der Herr, the Lord, for wisdom and guidance when Grant is gone, and she finds great peace in telling Him all that she has held inside her. The Lord gives her peace on the day she begins another year working on the roadside stand again. Peace in more ways than one.
I really enjoyed reading this book. Sarah's Garden is very realistic. It seems like Kelly Long took real people and put them in her story. When I was reading, I felt like Sarah was one of my real friends. When they held a quilting, I felt like I was there with them, sitting around the quilt with it's iridescent patches, and listening to Chelsea's story. Kelly Long has done a very good job of writing this book. It shows how much effort was put into it in the research and language. I really enjoyed it!

The book!

It's finally coming! From what I understand, UPS couldn't get into the apartment building that I live in, so I used a different address and I should get the book soon now! I'm excited, however I currently have a stack of books in my room that a friend lent me. I guess I'll have to read pretty fast then, won't I!

Little Women

Considering that I have not received my book for review yet, I have been reading other books. The one I have been reading today specifically is Little Women. I rather like the book. I always have found it rather interesting to read about how things were in the past. The book Little Women covers quite a substantial amount about how America used to be. It is a beautiful story that everyone should read, and I will leave you with that.

2'sday: When people change and mirrors

blogger

Thought #1: When people change...
People change. That is a fact of life. They can change physically, and also mentally. This week I spoke with a friend I haven't seen in over a year. She informed me that she has now reached 5 feet in height, but I always think of her as the little girl who was just above my waist in height! It's so strange how people can become so different given a little time. I've been reflecting on the past year recently. WOW, I've come a long way! The biggest change for me in the past year was moving across the country, but that's not the only change. If you look at how I was a year ago, you would find a confused little mouse, afraid to even stand in front of others. Now, I find myself the 'leader' of my group of friends (well, often times), I'm no longer afraid of what people think of my thoughts or beliefs, I can voice my opinion, and I speak in front of others (yay theater).Sometimes I wonder if change is bad, but then I realize that there is so much more and I shouldn't be afraid of change, I should embrace it.

Thought #2: Mirrors.
Mirrors can show you many things. They can show you how you look, how you feel, what others say about you, what you think of yourself, they are even used in literature and theatre and movies for special reasons. In Macbeth, a mirror shows many kings who are descendants of Banquo. But mirrors can only show you what you believe is there. There are times when I look in the mirror and I can only see blemishes, my mind doesn't even remind me of my eyes which bring me many compliments,or my hair which people always tell me is beautiful. A lot of people use so much makeup, but they don't realize that they are beautiful even without it. If others say you look stupid, or clownish, then that is all you will see (this has happened before, I'm sure to MANY people). The important thing to remember when you look in the mirror is that you are you, and that's just the way it should be. No one can choose what you see in the mirror except YOU.

Another 2'sday

blogger

Thought #1:How much of our lives do we actually spend acting?
...And not necessarily theatrical acting. I was thinking the other day of how I act around my friends and I realized that often times, I will put on a face for my friends. If I'm not really happy, I'll put on a face because I don't want my friends to worry. How many times do we do that in life...

Thought #2:I'm still trying to discover who I am...
...And that's OK! I think that the longer it takes for us as people to decide who we are and who we will become, the better! To be completely sure of yourself, you need time to develop who you are.

Well, they were short this week, maybe I'll have something better next week. (By the way, this is just my opinion so it's OK to disagree with anything I say.)

The wait.

It's been about two weeks sense I put my request in for a book from Book Sneeze, and I'm getting very worried actually... My book has not come yet. Without the book I don't know how I can review it! I'm sorry for the delay, but my book is not here yet and there is nothing I can do...
