2'sday: When people change and mirrors

blogger

Thought #1: When people change...
People change. That is a fact of life. They can change physically, and also mentally. This week I spoke with a friend I haven't seen in over a year. She informed me that she has now reached 5 feet in height, but I always think of her as the little girl who was just above my waist in height! It's so strange how people can become so different given a little time. I've been reflecting on the past year recently. WOW, I've come a long way! The biggest change for me in the past year was moving across the country, but that's not the only change. If you look at how I was a year ago, you would find a confused little mouse, afraid to even stand in front of others. Now, I find myself the 'leader' of my group of friends (well, often times), I'm no longer afraid of what people think of my thoughts or beliefs, I can voice my opinion, and I speak in front of others (yay theater).Sometimes I wonder if change is bad, but then I realize that there is so much more and I shouldn't be afraid of change, I should embrace it.

Thought #2: Mirrors.
Mirrors can show you many things. They can show you how you look, how you feel, what others say about you, what you think of yourself, they are even used in literature and theatre and movies for special reasons. In Macbeth, a mirror shows many kings who are descendants of Banquo. But mirrors can only show you what you believe is there. There are times when I look in the mirror and I can only see blemishes, my mind doesn't even remind me of my eyes which bring me many compliments,or my hair which people always tell me is beautiful. A lot of people use so much makeup, but they don't realize that they are beautiful even without it. If others say you look stupid, or clownish, then that is all you will see (this has happened before, I'm sure to MANY people). The important thing to remember when you look in the mirror is that you are you, and that's just the way it should be. No one can choose what you see in the mirror except YOU.

Another 2'sday

blogger

Thought #1:How much of our lives do we actually spend acting?
...And not necessarily theatrical acting. I was thinking the other day of how I act around my friends and I realized that often times, I will put on a face for my friends. If I'm not really happy, I'll put on a face because I don't want my friends to worry. How many times do we do that in life...

Thought #2:I'm still trying to discover who I am...
...And that's OK! I think that the longer it takes for us as people to decide who we are and who we will become, the better! To be completely sure of yourself, you need time to develop who you are.

Well, they were short this week, maybe I'll have something better next week. (By the way, this is just my opinion so it's OK to disagree with anything I say.)

2'sday

blogger
I've decided to try this. I'm not entirely sure if it will work, but I can try. This is 2'sday, so here are my two thoughts.

Thought #1: We are like oranges.
I know this sounds strange, but please bear with me for a moment. This past week, I was at home a lot. I was just sitting, peeling an orange. I have trouble peeling oranges. they always get stuck to the rind or they tear or something. So I looked at the orange, and something clicked in my mind: we are like oranges. What I mean is that we are the yummy fruit of the orange and we are wrapped in sin, which is the rind. When God "peels" the "sin" off of us, we get stuck to it and often it's hard to separate us from that sin. We end up as a torn piece of fruit, but God will still love us anyways.

Thought #2: You can't change your past...
... But you can change (or at least influence) your future. I was thinking the other day about all the mistakes I've made and everything that I think has gone completely wrong. I told my brother what I was thinking and he said to me, "You know, you can't change that stuff. What you can do is change your future and make it what you want it to be." I thought about that for another day or so, and I've come to the conclusion that this life is what you make of it. You have to work hard and make your future something great, and knowing that is really important to me.

So, that's what I've got for you for this 2'sday. I hope these thoughts can affect you somehow. They sure have affected me.
